Artist Profile

Bevan Parker was born in Paeroa, New Zealand in 1968. He worked in graphics for over 17 years, (NZ. Aus. UK.) in lithography, photo engraving and graphic arts and more extensively in typography in which he holds Trade Certificate.

Although painting all his life it wasn’t until the late 90s that Bevan started to perfect his own unique and original painting style. Current works show strong influences from his professional background coupled with living in different cultures, extensive travel and a New Zealand base.

Spending the last two and a half years living in Munich, Germany, Painting and exhibiting there and in the U.K, he has now re-established himself in Hamilton, N.Z.

The Art

Bevan s prime interest is in interweaving colour and pattern to create impacting art. The interaction of visual clutter and nature, blending man made structure and objects with natural forms, showing a fusion between hard structure line and soft natural line, effectively taking imagery that surrounds us in everyday life, overlaying, collating, and combining it to give dramatic shape and design affording the works an aspect of movement and life.
